Wholesale Ticket Prices: How it all works!

So by now you’ve probably noticed that you can purchase discounted tickets from Wholesale Flights at a 25-70% discount because we offer “wholesale” ticket rates. At Wholesale Flights we get our tickets through negotiated contracts with major airline ticket consolidators.

But, you may be asking, Wholesale? Consolidator? Contracts? For airline tickets? What does it all mean? How does it work?

Airline consolidators have the ability to buy “in bulk” from the airlines directly.  Airlines are only allowed to sell these large quantities of low-price tickets to consolidation companies. Consolidation companies are allowed to sell the tickets to individuals or to large distributors, like Wholesale Flights, who then sell individually to consumers. We secure wholesale prices which you could not get by buying from the airlines as an individual.

If you have ever visited a large buy-in-bulk store (think Costco or Sam’s Club), then you know that you get more product for your money when you purchase items this way. We buy in bulk for you, so you reap the benefits.

Consolidators have contracts with airlines to buy a large quantity (this is the bulk) of tickets at one time and at a very low rate (the wholesale price).

This is good for the airline, because they are guaranteed to sell a large number of tickets for seats that may otherwise never sell.

This is good for the consolidator because they can sell the tickets to travel agents, brokers, other distributors and the public, and make a profit.

The best part about buying in bulk is that the price is great for you, the consumer, because the final price is 25-70% less than buying tickets at published airline rates, and there is no extra leg-work for you. You simply reap the rewards. Wholesale Flights has contracts with wholesalers and waived fees with consolidators to ensure we get the lowest price possible for our international destination customers.

So now that you know how it works, try it for yourself to see just how much you can save on your next destination!

Cost Saving Airfare Tip: Aim to book your flight between 6-8 weeks before departure. You are most likely to get the best rate by not booking too early, or too late!
